About the guitar: It’s a Carvin seven string twenty-four fret guitar named “Zen 24/7”, in appreciation of Sudo’s book by the same name. The sides of this guitar are made of Hawaiian Koa wood, the fretboard of Rosewood, and the neck of Koa and Maple. Ahhh! The instrument is always kept in the seven-string version of Zen Guitar tuning, D-D-A-D-A-A-D.
When eastern philosophy meets western music the outcome is Zen Guitar. This growing movement centers around a calming form of meditation with guitar music as it’s focus. Zen guitarists play the music in their hearts while focusing on nothing but that music. It is a noncompetitive and joyous way to enjoy and prosper in the musical life.
Philip Toshio Sudo’s first book, “Zen Guitar”, has helped thousands of guitarists walk their own paths with greater confidence and clarity. And now, the sequel is here. Look for “The Book Of Six Strings”. This book , by Philip Toshio Sudo, and Tobias Hurwitz, completes the message started in “Zen Guitar”. It’s not only a philosophy book, but also a method book. “The Book Of Six Strings” reveals many specific secrets of guitar mastery and also introduces “One Sound One Song”, the music of Philip Toshio Sudo.
